Even if nowadays multi-articulating hands should represent the most advanced prostheses available on the market, tridigital hands are still preferred by the vast majority of patients: still today, tridigital devices are easier to use, more durable and more lightweight compared to their \u201ctechnological\u201d counterparts. The use of multi-articulating hands, in fact, often induces a psychological burden for patients, due to the large amount of training required to learn how to use these devices properly. Even for a trained individual, being forced to switch grips during everyday life through co-contractions, double or triple impulses often leads to greater muscle fatigue and longer times to perform gripping actions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

For that reason, the use of multi-articulating prosthesis is unnatural, not spontaneous, so that using the sound limb is always preferred even for simple activities. This, with time, makes the prosthetic hand almost useless, eventually leading the patients to abandon the device, without improving their quality of life at all. On the other hand, however, multi-articulating hands are often chosen for their higher dexterity and their anthropomorphic appearance, which allow the patients to perform a higher variety of ADLs compared to tridigital devices.
